Signature Process

After uploading a PDF or XML file to the device, you will see the document on the device screen. While the document viewing is active, you can scroll with the pen through the document. On the web interface, you see simultaneously a page with all active device buttons.

You can either click the button on the device's screen or on the website. With the PEN icon, you can start the signing mode. When you load a PDF document, you will activate the freehand signing mode, which means you can draw anywhere on the device. The device and the website will change the icons, so you can accept, repeat or cancel the signature process. After clicking on accept or cancel, the pad switches back to the document  viewing mode, and if you'd like to, you can add more signatures.

As soon as you're finished with all the signatures, you can finish the process by clicking on the Download button. This will trigger your browser to download the signed document.

After the download, the device will switch to standby mode.

When you're using the XML, you can automate the placement of the signature fields. This means that after clicking on the PEN icon, the device will jump to the defined signature fields automatically, where you can add the signature. After the last signature, the browser download will be triggered, and the XML with the signed PDF inside will be returned. More information about the XML format can be found here.

While the document viewing is enabled, you can set the signature meta information for the signature and a visible stamp text

The Signer, Reason and Location fields will be used as Meta information for the signature. You will see this values for example with Adobe Reader when you check a signature.

If you want to add a visible text around the signature image, you can set the color, postion, fontsize and the text. The text can contain static text and you can reuse the Signer, Reason, Location setting with the placeholders [Signer], [Reason], [Location] and [Time] for the current time.

Sample how the signature image can look like:

You can add for every signature different values, but you need to do this while the pad is inside the document viewing, so in between the manual signatures. Every time a new document is loaded, the firmware will reload the stamp settings from the settings page. When you change the values inside the signing process, the pad will store them as long as the document is opened.

Gallery Option - Page

The Gallery page can be reached by clicking on the picture icon inside the blue site bar.

The three radio buttons “show manual”, “show pictures,” and “show video” allow you to select what to display on the signature device screen when the device is in standby mode.

Option

Show manual

This is the default option of each signature device, and it means that you will see the info screen with the IP address and hostname of the signature device while the device is in standby mode.

Show pictures

You can upload up to four pictures to the device, which will be shown while it is on standby. The ideal resolution is 1024 x 600 pixels, and the images will be shown in an endless loop. If you want to upload an image, you have to click on the cloud icon, or you need to drag and drop your image into the area. You can also set a timer for how long each image should be displayed. You need to confirm each image with the green disk icon.

If you would like to delete an image, you have to click on the red trash icon.

Show video

You can also upload a video to the device for standby mode. The video needs to have specific settings; therefore, please use our video converter tool.

Setting - Page

The setting page can be accessed with the “Gear Wheel” icon from the blue site bar.

You can change the following settings on this page:

  • Signature Stamp Settings for the manual signature process, this settings will be loaded as default when you upload a PDF for manual signing. You can enable a small visible text which will be included to the signature image inside the PDF. You can also define here the signer, reason and location values which will be added as meta data to the signature. Inside the Stamp-Textformat, you can reuse the signer, reason and location values with the placeholder [Signer], [Reason], [Location]. For adding the current time you can use [Time]. Following a sample how it can look like.

  • Setting passwords to access the device pages. With the “START PAGE PASSWORD,” you can limit access to the signature functionally. If you set this password, you will be forced to enter it every time you open the web interface of the device (or when you're using the API). With the “GALLERY PASSWORD” and “SETTING PASSWORD,” you can prevent the user from accessing these pages.

  • Network settings, which include the device name and the option to get the IP address by DHCP, or you can set the IP manually.

  • Certificate Settings: Here you can change the HTTPS certificate on the device. This is, for example, required when you change the device name and still want to use HTTPS without any warning. The reason is that the device name is also the hostname for which the factory certificate was created.

  • File type restriction allows you to limit the upload to specific file types, for example, to prevent the upload of new firmware update files by users.

Info - Page

The Info Page contains details about the Device like current firmware version, serial, product name and manufacture. There are also links to the manual page, to the latest firmware download, the release notes and the swagger interface.

The page also contains the open source license Information.
