If the NextGen Pad is connected to a computer directly via USB, a private network is created between the two devices. In this case, the computer has to distribute an IP address; this actually happens automatically through the operating system. However, please check that after starting the device name and the IP address are also displayed. The IP address itself is assigned by the operating system and changes every time the pad is restarted. A fixed IP is not possible with the direct USB connection and it is recommended to use the host name to address the pad.

If this does not appear, please do the following:

• Disconnect the USB connection from the computer and then reconnect it. The pad should then request an IP address from the computer again

• Check whether your operating system has set up a new private network with the pad. An RNDIS connection is used between the computer and the NextGen device. Check whether your operating system has created a suitable network. For example under Windows in the network adapter overview or with IPConfig /all.

• If you cannot find a corresponding entry, please check whether you are blocking this network or perhaps only allowing selected USB devices.

If the NextGen Pad has been given an IP but the web interface cannot be reached via it, please try to ping the device via the IP.

• If ping is also negative, it could be due to firewall settings. For example, if you have disabled access to public networks, this could be the cause of the problem. Because under Windows the RNDIS network is always configured as a public network by default.
