7. My signpad is upside down or turned on its side

If the display of your signature pad is upside down or in the case of a duraSign Pad 10.0 it’s turned on its side like a portrait rather than a landscape, this happens due to our orientation feature.

All StepOver signature pads offer the option to set the pad to the left-handed mode, so that a left-handed person has the handrest of the pad in the upper left instead of the lower right like right-handed persons use it.

Here are 3 options to change this orientation:

If none of these 3 options helps, please contact our technical support at service@stepover.de

  1. Pressing the Turn button on your signature pad

This button looks similar on all signature pads, either two pieces of paper switching between portrait and landscape view or two arrows creating a circle, just like in these example pictures:

By pressing the corresponding button the orientation is changed. This change is usually only temporary and is reset with the next restart of the pad.

Additionally these buttons are only visible while either a document is shown or directly before signing, so before even a single stroke or dot has been written.

  1. Permanent turning with SODC
Our StepOver Device Check Software has a secret settings mode, with whose help advanced settings of a signature pad can be changed:

Please do not change anything in these menus without knowing exactly what you are doing or without direct instructions by our StepOver support team as you can cause damage to your signature pad!

  • Start the SODC.exe in your “driver” subdirectory or your StepOver software.

By default this path is for example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StepOver\eSignatureOffice 6.9\driver\sodc.exe"

  • After the start, select your signature pad:

  • After the pad selection click on “Options” in the main menu and a seemingly blank menu will appear.

  • Now press any button on your computer keyboard and the Advanced Pad Option menu appears.

  • Select the register card “LCD Rotation”.

  • Activate the option “Save Rotation” and then select the desired orientation by clicking one of the 4 buttons with their corresponding “degree” label. The number corresponds to the degree of the turn. Please be aware that only the duraSign Pad 10.0 is supporting the “90 degrees” and “270 degrees” option. All other devices only support the “0 degrees” (right-handed mode) and “180 degrees” (left-handed mode).

  • If the status message in the lower part of the menu says that the LCD was turned “permanently” then the change was successful.

  • Now you can close the software and restart the signature pad.

If the issue persists and wasn’t fixed by this procedure, please contact our StepOver support team at service@stepover.de

  1. Turning the pad in the correct orientation with each start of eSignatureOffice
Just like already hinted in the title of this chapter, this option can only be utilized when using our eSignatureOffice software!
It is possible to set a desired pad orientation for each program start and end. This change can be set up separately for each pad type in the administration menu of eSignatureOffice.

  • Open eSignatureOffice and in the main menu click “Options” and then “Administration”.

  • Now the administration menu will appear. Please select the submenu “Device specific settings”.

  • In the upper drop down menu select your type of signature pad if it has not been selected automatically already.

  • Your desired orientation can be selected with the two dropdown menus. Either you select the orientation directly or you select no orientation change for either program start or program end, so that the pad is set to the original orientation it had when the software was started.
