If you connected the NextGen Pad directly to the computer via USB, a private network is created by the operating system. The IP address is assigned by the computer's operating system. Using a fixed IP address without the network adapter is not possible.
If the NextGen Pad is used with the network adapter kit, it gets the IP address from the network's DHCP server by default. There are two options for the pad to have a “fixed” IP address.
You can set the IP address manually via the NextGen Pad's web interface. Please make sure that the desired IP address is not yet in use and belongs to your network. If you are not sure, it is best to contact your administrator.
The second option to give the NextGen Pad a fixed IP is via the DHCP server. Please speak with your Administrator about this option. Please note that the MAC address required for the reservation on the DHCP server comes from the network adapter. This means that if you connect another pad to your network adapter, it would get the IP address configured in DHCP.
